P2 Evaluating the associations ability to get ready for its future promoting action Subsequent to confronting a colossal misfortune because of downturn, Nelson Professional Clothing needed to battle a ton for meeting their operational exercises by both cutting back the workers and selling of the benefits of the organization. In this way, the organization recruited Gantts Hill Research and Consultancy Group (GRCG) so as to chalk out a powerful showcasing plan for what's to come. The association is able enough to confront the change since it has just confronted a great deal of obstacles during the period of downturn (McKay, 2014). The capacity approach is one of the methodologies that utilization the offer of the clients so as to set up the presentation objectives that depend on commitment of qualities. Besides, the organization is anxious to break down the promoting techniques that incorporates dissect of the qualities, shortcoming, opportunity and dangers of the organization. P3 Examining the methods for reviewing an association and investigating the outside elements that influences the promoting arranging The method that the promoting head of GRCG had received for breaking down the outer elements influencing the market arranging is the SWOT investigation. The quality of Nelson Professional Clothing is the low value system where it gives great quality items at a significant low cost. Also, this quality will give the organization an additional upper hand over different organizations. Also, the shortcoming of the organization is that it needed to auction a portion of the advantages because of downturn. The chance of the organization can be presentation of broadened items into the market at sensible costs (Mooradian et al. 2012). Since the clients think about the great nature of results of this organization, they will be anxious to have the items again from the organizat ion. In any case, then again as indicated by Karakaya and Parayitam (2013) the danger of the organization is the rising worldwide rivalry and worldwide financial emergency. The ecological components incorporate the preparing of the waste materials before removal and strategies to diminish the carbon impression. Examination of these elements helps in making a fruitful showcasing plan (Perret and Holmlund, 2013). Errand 2 (M2) P5 Accessing the principle boundaries of promoting getting ready for Nelson Professional Clothing The viability of various initiative styles of various associations is examined in this unique circumstance. In totalitarian initiative style, the administrators and the higher authorities are the center chiefs. The representatives needed to work as indicated by the guidelines and guidelines of the organization independent of any issues they face. Such administration can be a hindrance to the market arranging in light of the fact that new thoughts are not permitted to stream inside the association (Tyssen et al. 2013). This builds the decrease of representative maintenance and furthermore the workers don't secure fulfillment in their position. For the participative initiative style, the pioneers examines with the workers before taking any sort of choices. Be that as it may, this style faces difficulties at the hour of crisis an additionally during the hour of taking choices inside a brief timeframe. Also, the value-based administration style centers around giving prizes or disciplines that depends on the consequences of the presentation (Arnold and Loughlin, 2013). This makes the workers move towards a shared objective and makes the wok repetitiveness and development in this administration style is missing. This is on the grounds that disappointment of the thought can prompt discipline of the representatives so the workers ideally dont face any challenge in giving out thoughts. These diverse administration styles are the primary boundaries in compelling showcasing arranging. P6 Explaining how to conquer the obstructions to promoting arranging Nelson Professional Clothing can free of hindrances and make a viable showcasing arranging by the accompanying ways. The association can assemble more data of the market pattern by doing a striking and legitimate statistical surveying. This is on the grounds that; assortment of wrong information can prompt an erroneous market arranging that will have an unfavorable impact to the matter of the association (Bazini and Ramaj, 2013). What's more, statistical surveying in regards to the market development, net worth and dynamic procedures should be possible to stay away from and beat the obstructions. The better comprehension of the clients, the necessities and prerequisites of the potential clients can likewise be the method of defeating obstructions. The board speculations - Essay Example While administrators direct, rely upon control and spotlight on authoritative frameworks and structure, pioneers advance, rouse trust and spotlight on people in an association. Furthermore, administrators and pioneers vary extraordinarily in that pioneers have people tailing them while supervisors have people working for them. Also, pioneers will in general be splendid and appealling, such as facing challenges, visionary and imaginative among others. They use non-coercive type of impact to cause people to accomplish certain objectives (Bertocci 2009, p.7). Conversely, supervisors are reasonable, issue solvers, and by and large, they center around authoritative objectives, structures, staff just as the accessibility of assets. By the by, pioneers and supervisors way to deal with errands in an unexpected way, that is, pioneers take a gander at the issue and think of imaginative arrangements. Their appeal and commitments causes them to persuade workers to put forth a valiant effort and to adequately tackle any issue emerging. Interestingly, chiefs set up techniques to shape groups and join thoughts to think of suitable answer for any issue. They urge their subordinates to share their perspectives so as to diminish innate hazard and advance achievement. In like manner, the two of them have various ways to deal with hazard in that as pioneers are daring people, directors are chance disinclined. All the more along these lines, pioneers are the facilitators when choices are made while administrators are included

Until emptying out what they thoroughly contain, insightful men realize the time has come to go into that great night, which alludes to death. Great men, the last wave by, crying how splendid Their delicate deeds may have moved in a green inlet, Rage, rage against the perishing of the light. (line 7-8, Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night) In this refrain, Thomas advances a gathering of good men. In my brain, great men are mindful and solid. Besides, they like to give their psyches completely to what they are doing. Clearly, this kind of men is in the minority as the sonnet says â€Å"the last wave by,† (line 7) Perhaps Thomas suggests that his dad is a decent man and he merits God’s favoring. Great men self-announce that their works are sufficiently splendid to move in a green sound. We will compose a custom article test on An Analysis of â€Å"Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night† or on the other hand any comparative theme explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page â€Å"Green bay† most likely alludes to a significant level. Be that as it may, they are crying since they don't get enough notorieties and prizes relating to their endeavors. In any case, great men don't accommodate to the affliction and they need to change the present circumstance. The date of death appears to be too soon to them. They rage, rage against death. Wild men who got and sang the sun in flight, Also, learn, past the point of no return, they lamented it on its way, Do not go delicate into that goodbye. (line 10-12, Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night ) Wild men are another gathering of individuals who invest their energy futile. They go through the days just on hanging out and doing nothing valuable in the sun without thinking about their own future and dream. Here â€Å"sun† is a similitude for solace and relaxation. They sit around idly in diversion and pursuing useless things which in the end come to nothing. At the point when passing nearly finds them, they understand the genuine significance of life and lament the days which should be important. The time left for them is restricted. They make progress toward more opportunity to set up a point and appreciate the joy during the time spent taking endeavors. Grave men, close to death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blast like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the withering of the light. (line 13-15, Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night) Grave men are the last gathering of individuals that Thomas depicts. They experience issues in observing. I notice that â€Å"blinding†, â€Å"blaze†, â€Å"blind† and â€Å"be† are the words all beginning with â€Å"b† sound. â€Å"B† sound let me think about the sound when plants or blossoms are maturing and volcanoes are emitting. It is a sound with incredible, vigorous and unstoppable spirits. Despite the fact that lacking one of the capacities to detect the world, grave men are firmly ready to contact the world as though they never get enough. â€Å"Blind eyes could burst like meteors† (line 14) This is a representation that implies grave men never recognize their expectation and consistently hold an energetic demeanor towards life. A debilitated individual despite everything can battle against the fate. Why solid individuals yield to death? In the last verse, the artist calls attention to that this sonnet is especially composed for his withering dad. â€Å"Curse, favor, me now with your wild tears, I ask. (line 17) In this sentence, â€Å"curse†, â€Å"bless†, â€Å"fierce† and â€Å"tears† all have the rhyme â€Å"s† which makes the tone delicate sounding. Thomas asks his dad to bite the dust with outrage, not lowliness. Whatever the ways, the revile or favor, the writer can tolerate it inasmuch as his dad not give up to death. This sonnet is organized in a structure called villanelle, which has 19 lines in length, however just uses two rhymes. In this sonnet, â€Å"night†, â€Å"light†, â€Å"right†, â€Å"bright†, â€Å"flight†, â€Å"sight† and â€Å"sight† all end with â€Å"t† sound and â€Å"day†, â€Å"they†, â€Å"bay†, â€Å"way†, â€Å"gay† and â€Å"pray† all end with â€Å"ei† sound. The mood of this sonnet follows as â€Å"aba, aba, aba, aba, aba, abaa†. Besides, it is obvious to see that initial five verses are triples and last refrain is a quatrain, which is additionally another standard of villanelle. There are two holds back in the sonnet. â€Å"Do not go delicate into that goodbye. † (line 1) is rehashed in line 6, line 12 and line 18. â€Å"Rage, rage against the perishing of the light. † (line 3)is rehashed in line 9, line 15 and line 19. Thomas asks his dad to seethe against a quiet end and try to oppose his destruction. He likewise underlines passing is correct. Be that as it may, we should hold fast for our life. Just along these lines, would we be able to state that we are content and not lament for as long as we can remember while thinking back it.

The Best Fonts for Your Resume Ranked

The Best Fonts for Your Resume Ranked When you are writing your resume, the font might seem like the least of your worries. You want to ensure you tailor your resume for the job position, to include all the relevant information and generally, for you to come across as the right pick for the job.But the font you use does actually matter and you shouldn’t just stick to the automatic choice in your text editor.Hiring managers won’t spend more than six seconds looking at your resume. This means they will make a value judgment based on the visuals â€" if your resume looks professional and polished, the manager will spend more time on it. In order to make a good visual impression, you need to have an appealing font.Research has shown that font isn’t just about the looks. It actually influences how the reader will perceive the message. By simply changing the font, you could be turning your resume into a more professional resume or you could make it less serious and ambitious.By selecting the right font, you can set a subc onscious tone for your resume that means the hiring manager will like you.So, what are the best fonts to use? In this guide, we’ll be exploring the seven top fonts to use outlined by hiring managers and designers. We’ll also shortly explore some of the fonts you don’t want to use. WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN PICKING THE FONTNow, before we get started with the fonts, let’s consider what you should keep in mind when picking the font for your resume. There are three basic principles to focus on:The font has to be readable. This might seem like a given but it’s important to pay attention to it. You need to remember the hiring manager doesn’t want to waste a lot of time looking at the resume â€" therefore, the font needs to be immediately readable and not something that opens up as you stare at it longer. In a way, you want the words to jump out of the resume on the sub-consciousness of the hiring manager. The problem you might have here is that you know your resume inside out. Therefore, judging the readability can be difficult. You already know what it says and this will help you ‘read’ the resume. It’s a good idea to test the font’s readability by making a friend look at it â€" this gives you a more authentic understanding of the readability. The font looks good in the correct size. You should also keep in mind that different fonts react differently to size changes. Your chosen font might look good when you started writing at 12 points, but then you need to scale it down to 10 points and it all goes a little haywire. Generally, your font size should be between 10 and 14 points. The font needs to fit the purpose. Your resume should have a purpose â€" other than the obvious one, which is to get you hired. For example, are you highlighting your academic prowess for a research role? Is the resume for a design-based role in which case you want the font to play with your attention to a good and different design? As you will see in the below list, certain fonts have a certain character to them and you want to make sure the font you choose fits with the purpose of your resume. So, when you are thinking about the font, your thought process should be:1. Does the font convey the right purpose?2. Does it look good in the size Im using it in?3. Is the text immediately readable?Again, it’s a good idea to not only look at the resume yourself but have a friend go over it â€" they can let you know what kind of vibe they are getting, how the font looks and feels and whether they find it easy to read or not.One thing to keep in mind is the use of applicant tracking systems (ATSs). These are essentially computer algorithms that scan your resume to either pass it forward in the hiring funnel or not. Now, it’s important to use a relatively generic font to ensure the computer can read it. You should also always check if the organization has specific rules regarding the formatting (including font) and follow these to ensure a simple formatting issue doesn’t get your resume rejected.THE TOP 7 FONTS TO USE FOR YOUR RESUMEWith the above in mind, let’s see what are the top fonts to use for your resume.Georgia For a classic font choice, you could opt for Georgia. It’s a serif font, which uses thicker strokes specifically designed to create more clarity on a computer screen. It definitely benefits from looking the same whether you are viewing a Word-document or a PDF.Georgia has a classical look without compromising on modern digital formatting. If you are looking for a simple font that looks good and professional, Georgia is definitely a good choice. It’s not surprising or playful but a safe pick for a traditional resume. In a CNBC survey, four of the eight experts picked it as a great font for a resume.Trebuchet Trebuchet’s designer Vincent Connare has said he wanted to create a font that appears and behaves well on a digital screen, hoping to achieve a “modern open humanistic feel with glyph specific features”. It creates a lovely contrast in texture and provides you with something different from the other sans-serif fonts on the list. The round and friendly font is especially good for creative fields, such as marketing. But you can use it on any resume â€" from the graduate level to the more experienced resume. Trebuchet is a good choice because it’s used by most operating systems as a core font and therefore, reading it won’t be a problem.Arial As another member of the popular sans-serif family, Arial is a clean and safe choice to make. It actually contains more humanist characteristics and is, therefore, relatable and non-aggravating font to use. Like Georgia, it has a modern feel to it without looking too stylish. If you are looking for something classic for a traditional or first-time resume, Arial is a good option. However, if you want to stand out from the crowd or show your creativity, it isn’t the most suitable font. Now, the Arial font family has a range of styles from Light to Bold Italic. The regular is the best option for a resume, although you could play with the different designs in your headings and sub-headings.Calibri Calibri is another great choice because of its familiarity. It has been the default font in Microsoft Word since 2007, but this isn’t to its detriment. It makes it easy on the eyes and the reader doesn’t have to ‘get used to it’. Its creator Lucas de Groot has described it as a font with “a warm and soft character”.Now, Calibri’s popular use does make it a slightly ‘lazy’ option. You do want to consider this when thinking about using it. However, if you are applying for your first job and you need a safe font to write your resume with, Calibri is definitely worth keeping in mind. It’s a great font for resumes in a variety of industries and if you have to send a general resume for a job site, this would be a great pick.Tahoma If you want another popular font but perhaps with a bit more texture to Calibri, you should consider Tahoma. It’s been widely used in Microsoft Windows and it is a standard choice for resumes. The great benefit of using Tahoma is its narrow body which allows you to fit more letters in a smaller space â€" if your resume has a lot of information to it, you should definitely consider using this font. The font is also popularly used in technical publications. Therefore, it can be a great pick for technical industries and technology-focused resumes, in general. It’s also a good font for more experienced job seekers, exactly because it allows a lot of text without losing readability.Garamond Garamond is a classic font that might seem a little out-dated choice. The font’s precursors have been in use for 500 years so it definitely works and is easy on the eye. It also benefits from looking readable even when you push the font size down or tighten up the spacing. The two qualities, old-fashioned look and a high readability in a smaller size, have made it a popular option for those adding a list of experience and skills. It’s definitely a great choice for academic resumes and for those with year’s worth of work experience. Garamond adds to the feeling of professionalism and expertise. If you are applying for a traditional job in a traditional industry, then Garamond is definitely a good option to keep in mind.Didot Finally, you could go with Didot. It’s a distinctive serif font with roots in Paris, France. Perhaps its romantic feel isn’t a big surprise then. Didot has an elegant and rather fashionable design to it. It’s playful and it’s different â€" it has a creative feel to it without making it difficult to read.Didot is a rather popular choice for the creative industries. It’s often used in the world of fashion and photography, making it a perfect choice for resumes looking to land a job in these or other similar industries. If you want your resume to stand out, then this font is definitely worthy of a try.THE FONTS YOU NEVER WANT TO SEE IN A RESUMEThe above seven are definitely worth considering when writing your resume. You could, of course, pick something that’s not mentioned in this post. The world is full of worthy fonts in all kinds of shapes and sizes. However, a few fonts in the world are not worth considering under any circumstance. These can cause the hiring manager grow a few extra grey hairs. So, make sure you don’t pick these fonts under any circumstance:The worst fonts to use in a resumeComic SansEveryone should know by now that Comic Sans is the biggest font mistake you can ever make. It replicates the look of an old comic book speech bubble and it really shouldn’t be on a serious resume â€" or many other things, for that matter.ImpactImpact is big and bold. While these are not bad impressions for a resume, the font is simply too much for a professional document. It’s not easy on the eyes so avoid it at all cost.WindingsWindings is essentially a comedy font and therefore, you shouldn’t even consider it on a serious document. This is a bit of an obvious thing to say but people have done outrageous things in their resumes so it’s worth mentioning.Times New RomanThis might be the most surprising font on the list. However, it isn’t due to the font looking weird bur rather down to its popularity.Times New Roman is used so widely that it won’t help your resume stand out. It will give it a boring and safe feel â€" something that won’t help when you want the job.CourierCourier tries to emulate the look of a typewriter and that’s exactly what it does. But we live in the 21st century and you’re resume shouldn’t look like it was typed using an old typewriter.FINDING THE BEST FONT â€" THE BOTTOM LINEThe above tips should help you in picking the right fonts for your resume. The seven are definitely worth considering, with the above list of five worth avoiding at all costs.Essentially, the right font is determined by the purpose of your resume. What kind of message do you want it to convey? Are you looking for something safe and traditional or do you want to be more playful? After you find fonts to go with your message, it’s down to presentation. It’s important to test different fonts and consider changing font size. This can dramatically change your font and improve the readability.

A Worldfamous The Great Gatsby Book - Free Essay Example

The Great Gatsby, written in 1925 by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. It has been considered a classic for his symbolism and themes. It is heavily centered on social classes, social constructs, and the American dream. It is a story of undying hope and love for another. That ends in tragedy. Many people consider The Great Gatsby to be a must read for high school students. James Gatz, better known as Jay Gatsby, grew up in North Dakota, to Henry Gatz. Jay Gatsby is a hopeless romantic who held out his hope for Daisy for years, and through many struggles. Gatsby tried to return from war just to be with Daisy and he spent all the money he had trying to find her. This is what Nick meant when he said it was an extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as i have never found in another person. (pg 2). This hope is what caused Gatsby to get rich by helping organized crime. This hope is what led him to New York, led him to buying a house, and incentivized him to throw extravagant parties. All in the hope of attracting Daisys attention. Gatsby eventually resorted to asking Nick for help to achieve. After all these years his hope was finally within reach. Only to be ripped away again by an unfortunate accident, and killed the next day. Gatsby is represented by green, black, brown, purple, and gold. Green for his hope, black for his mysterious life a nd eventual death, brown for the poverty he lived in, purple for wealth, and gold for the extravagance of his actions. Meyer Wolfsheim is a jewish, middle aged man. He is also a prominent member in organized crime and a business partner with Gatsby. Meyer helped Gatsby make his fortune when Gatsby returned from the war and ended up penniless. Meyer did not do this out of the kindness of his heart however. He merely used Gatsby to make more gonnegtions. We can tell that Meyer has Gatsby find new people because of the interaction when Nick first meets Meyer, Meyer says to Nick I understand youre looking for a business gonnegtion. (pg 70). Only for Gatsby to answer Oh, no, this isnt the man. (pg 71). Meyer likely doesnt care much for Gatsby, supported by the fact he doesnt attend Gatsbys funeral. I would say he most closely represents the negative side of green, being greedy and money-driven. Tom Buchanan, an old money, ex-sports player. He has a short temper, hes prone to violence, rather arrogant, a frequent liar, an alcoholic, a racist, and a cheater to boot. Tom is almost the exact representation of a corrupt aristocrat. His obscene wealth and horrible character traits making him one of the least ideal people to be around. However, Daisy was unlucky enough to marry him. Tom goes on to run around with other women, one of which being Myrtle. Whose nose gets broken in an argument with Tom. Everyone around Tom is likely to be hurt by him. I would assign purple and red. For his arrogance, wealth, and temper. Daisy Buchanan, wife to Tom, cousin to Nick, and an old acquaintance to Gatsby. Daisy doesnt care about anyone around her. She doesnt care for her daughter, having her raised by a nurse. She doesnt care for Tom, she even went and cheated on him. Nor does she care for Gatsby, she didnt even bother to send a flower to his funeral. There is the possibility that Tom prevented her from sending a flower. However I find this unlikely because she went so far as to cheat on Tom in the first place. If she cared enough she would have taken the risk to send flowers. I would give Daisy black for her evil ways. Jordan Baker is a friend of Daisys and eventual girlfriend of Nicks. Shes also a competitive golfer and independent woman. Representing the change in women that happened around the 1920s. Brought about by the ability to vote and find their own work. Jordan is also careless, reckless, and self-centered. She drives terribly but doesnt fear and accident because it takes two to make an accident. After the death of Gatsby and she talks to Nick again she appears to no longer care, claiming to be engaged to another man. I would give Jordan orange, for her fiery new woman spirit. Nick Carraway is the narrator of The Great Gatsby. He was a soldier in WWI, graduated from Yale, and them moved to New York to become a bond man. Nick tends to reserve his judgement until after everything is said and done. He describes himself as the most honest person he knows. Which seems quite true given the crowd he socializes with. Nick, like Gatsby, grew up in the West. Which is to say, an entirely different world than the East. Which is probably the source of his different values. He becomes friends with most of the other characters mentioned in the book. Nick also seems like he is the most saddened by Gatsbys death, other than Gatsbys father. I would assign blue to Nick, not only for the sadness he feels at the death of his friend, but also for the loyalty and wisdom he shows throughout the book. George Wilson is the owner of a gas station in an area known as the Valley of Ashes. He has stuck up a business deal with Tom. To buy Toms car and resell it for a profit. George became sick when he learned Myrtle cheated on him and devastated when he learned Myrtle was killed. Becoming a husk of a man he was days before. He became obsessed to the point of murder for the death of his wife, killing Gatsby because he believed he was the perpetrator. Unfortunately, he killed the wrong person in the end as Daisy was the one who was driving, not Gatsby. I would assign blue to George, for the crushing sadness he felt. Myrtle Wilson, Georges wife, and Toms mistress. She is a victim of Toms violence. Getting her nose broken just by saying Daisys name. She seems to be unable to stand being married to George, backed up by the quote Neither of them can stand the person theyre married to. (pg 33). Tom cant stand being married to Daisy and Myrtle cant stand being married to George. Myrtle was misled by Tom to believe that Daisy was a Catholic and therefore against divorce. Myrtle tried to flag down the car that hit her because she believed Tom was in it. So she likely spent her last few moments believing Tom had just killed her. Myrtle represents green and red to me. Green for the greed of yearning to marry Tom and red for the anger she felt towards Daisy. In the end, most of these characters suffered at the hands of the others. This can be due to their harmful and dishonest nature. Or to the unfriendly society of the upper class. Or any other culmination of the negative aspects of society associated with the upper class. What may just be the worst part of this tragedy is that it is entirely avoidable. If they were only more honest or less old fashioned more characters would probably have ended up happy.

Freud influenced language and embedded it within the modern vocabulary of today. Words like: anal (personality), denial, libido, Freudian slip, repression, cathartic, and neurotic are just a few of the terms he created that are still widely used. Freud held the belief that when explaining our own behavior, we rarely give an accurate account of our motivation. It is not because we are intentionally lying. Although people are good fooling others, they are even better at fooling themselves. The rationalizations of our conduct are actually disguising the real reasons. His life’s work was spent predominately trying to find techniques of circumventing this camouflage that hides structure and function of the personality. Sigmund Freud really gained substantial recognition with his first book, co-authored with Josef Breuer, â€Å"Studies in Hysteria.† The book is based on a new theory that physical symptoms often surface as the result of repressed events. Haiku Condensing Experience to 3 Brief Lines

Haiku is an unrhymed, syllabic literary form adapted from the Japanese: three lines of five, seven and five syllables. Because it is so brief, a haiku is necessarily imagistic, concrete and pithy, juxtaposing two images in very few words to create a single crystalline idea. The juxtaposed elements are linked in Japanese by a kireji, or â€Å"cutting word† — poets writing haiku in English or other Western languages often use a dash or an ellipsis to indicate the break or cut between the linked imagery. The roots of haiku stretch back to seventh-century Japan, but it found its modern form in the 17th century when Matsuo Basho took up the form. By the end of his life, Basho had created more than 1,000 haiku poems. The form did not migrate into Western poetry until the 19th century after Japan’s harbors were opened to European and American trade and travel when several anthologies of haiku were translated into English and French. In the early years of the 20th century, the imagist poets adopted the form as an ideal poem, writing what they called â€Å"hokku† in the three-line, five-seven-five pattern. Midcentury Beat poets like Jack Kerouac and Gary Snyder were also enamored of the haiku form, and it has flourished in contemporary poetry, particularly American poetry. The American writer  Richard Wright, most known for the novel Native Son, riffed on traditional haiku subject matter and used the form in themes that included surrealism and politics. Wright died in 1960, but in 1998 Haiku: This Other World was published, and it contained 817 haiku poems that were written during the last year and a half of his life. The Beat poet Allen Ginsberg did not write haiku, but he created his own variation of it, called American Sentences, which are one sentence, 17 syllables, brief but evocative. These American Sentences are collected in a book, Cosmopolitan Greetings (1994). Because the form has been brought into English from Japanese, a language written in characters, in which a haiku appears on a single line, many poets writing haiku in English are flexible about the syllable and line counts, focusing more on the brevity, condensed form and Zen attitude of haiku. Traditional Japanese haiku requires a seasonal reference, or kigo, drawn from a defined list of words pertaining to the natural world. The related short form of senryu is distinguished from haiku as being concerned with human nature or social and personal relationships.

Essay Armor of Ancient Rome - 3050 Words

Armor of Ancient Rome Ancient Rome expended a great deal of economic resources and effort upon conquest and expansion through military means. The role of armor was fundamental in this expansion as it played a significant role in the success of the Roman armies on the battlefield. There were three common requirements for armor construction throughout its history: The first was that armor had to be flexible enough to allow the wearer freedom of movement; second, it also had to be lightweight enough to be worn without tiring the wearer while providing protection against opponents weapons; and third, armor had to be cost effective. These three aspects influenced the evolution of Roman cuirass (lorica) design throughout Rome’s†¦show more content†¦Further reorganization occurred after the civil war of A.D.69, when the victorious Flavian dynasty dispersed disloyal units. As the Empires expansion slowed, permanent borders were established. Auxiliaries patrolled the borders and legionnaires were stationed within the frontiers to act as a strategic reserve and intimidate potentially rebellious provinces. The army can be divided into two distinct parts: the legion and the auxiliary ( auxilia), with a marked social division existing between the two. Only Roman citizens could become legionnaires, while auxilia were composed of non citizens recruited from Romes client states and tribes. These legions were supported by the non citizen auxilia consisting of infantry cohorts and cavalry (alae). A legion consisted of around 5,000 men which were mostly heavy foot soldiers. However, it is only possible to attempt a rough estimate of the men who constituted a legion. It has been estimated that the total number of Roman troops, including legions and auxilia, numbered more than 300,000 during the first century A.D. It has also been assumed that the legionary and auxiliary troops were equipped differently. This notion is based on evidence from a single source, Trajans column, whic h shows clear distinctions between legionary and auxiliary equipment. The early view put forward by historians such as Webster was that the equipment issued to legionnaires was remarkably uniform throughout theShow MoreRelatedA Day in Ancient Rome1415 Words   |  6 PagesIf I had to choose an ancient time or civilization to live in I would choose Rome. The food that is consumed through diet in meals is converted inside the body through the process of digestion to generate energy. Carbohydrates, fats and proteins are generally considered as calorigenic foods as they yield considerable amount of energy upon intake. The energy produced via dietary intake comprising of these foods is generally calculated in terms of calorie (C) or kilocalorie (kcal) or Joules (J). One gram of carbohydrate or protein is generally responsible for generating 4 kcal of energy while one gram of protein normally yields 9 kcal of energy (2). Metabolism is a vital bodily process that ensures the health and well being of an individual through maintenance and building of tissues in addition to production of energy. The metabolic processes normally comprise of two synergistic processes of anabolism and catabolism where the food materials are at first degraded to yield energy on one hand and simultaneously the ingested food materials are utilized by the body cells to provide strength and vitality and facilitate tissue growth. Two parameters including the basal metabolic rate (BMR) and resting metabolic rate (RMR) are normally used to define the energy requirements of a person specific to a given condition and also depending upon the type of work performed. Age, height, weight, gender and clinical condition of the individual are among the factors affecting the energy requirements in a person. Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is defined as the energy expended by a person while at rest in the post absorptive state and in a neutrally temperate environment. BMR is crucial to the proper functioning of the vital organs. BMR tends to decrease with age and reduction in the lean body mass and increase with the rise in the muscle mass. Extrinsic variables ranging from diet, habitat, temperature and net primary productivity seem to affect BMR as well (3). Another term called the resting metabolic rate (RMR) is often used interchangeably with BMR. Resting metabolic rate is the energy required by an organism to survive in absence of any activity. RMR is a crucial component of energy expenditure and contributes a maximum of it (around 70%). Factors that affect BMR also affect RMR. Muscle mass, small regular meals, pregnancy condition an intake of supplements increase RMR while age, genetics and crash dieting regime decrease the RMR. RMR differs from BMR in that conditions measurement pertinent to RMR may be altered by and defined by circumstantial limitations. Therefore measurement of RMR as an estimate of daily expenditure seems to be more accurate. Fat fee mass acts as an important determinant for RMR and is attributed as a marker of energy intake and depict a physiological signal for hunger. Research provides evidences that RMR may have future implications for energy homeostasis, appetite and obesity (4). The specific requirements for the tennis sport, combines the skills of anaerobic system including the speed, agility and power along with higher aerobic capacities. Tennis has been recognized as an explosive sport depending upon strength, power and speed. In case of the competitive tennis athletes the work to rest ratios typically between 1:3 and 1:5. The competitive male athletes are found to maintain body fat of -1 is incurred. For dietary recommendations pertinent to tennis players, a high carbohydrate diet between 6-10 g.kg-1 is suggested in order to ensure sufficient glycogen stores. Protein intake content for tennis players undergoing training at a high intensity and duration on a daily basis has been estimated to be approximately 1.6g.kg-1.day-1. Dietary fat intake has been suggested not to exceed 2 g.kg-1.day-1. For every change over in mild to moderate climate of 27?C, 200 ml of fluid containing electrolytes is suggested. However for temperature 27?C, fluid intake of 400 m l is recommended. For match playing exceeding 2 hours, ingestion of 30-60 g.hr-1 of carbohydrate ingestion is advised (6). The calorie consumption and the amount of energy expended through exercise play a crucial part in the athletes to perform optimally and excel in their respective games. The resting metabolic rate (RMR) is required for maintaining the bodys normal function such as respiration, thermogenesis, and digestion. The estimated RMR for the specific client is found to be 1764 kcal/day. However the information provided from the WinDiet data of 3 days from the concerned client suggest that he is consuming energy of 2129 kcal/day. Thus, he is found to expend more energy in contrast to his requirement. In this context, reference may be made of the concept of energy balance that is vital to the understanding of the bodily demands specific to a person. Energy balance accounts for the between the intake of energy via consumption of calories in the form of drinks and food and the output of energy that are used up by the body to meet the bodily requirements. The energy balance concept is based upon the laws of thermodynamics and dictates whether weight has been gained or lost or remains the same. Positive energy balance or negative energy balance impact the cellular metabolism, hormonal release and other bodily functions and is therefore considered essential to carry out the normal functioning inside the body. Further, data obtained from the physical variables of height and weight suggests that the body mass index (BMI) of the person is 22 and was found to be within the normal range. BMI is vital to assess the obesity in a person. For the body composition analysis in male tennis players, BMI has been identified as an integral factor (7). BMI has been found to be correlated with certain identified kinematic parameters that in turn were significantly correlated with the ball speed that might serve as useful guideline for the players and coaches to effectively improve their serve speed (8). Many players have entered into the market , which has led to rise in the level of competition in the industry. There are several international corporations which are engaged in food retail all over the world. Over the past, these organizations have been engaged in stiff competition with each of them aiming at winning the highest fraction of the market share. For instance, there was a high level of competition in 1980s which was referred to as â€Å"hamburger wars†. This was characterized by price battle which led to a significant fall in prices. In the contemporary world, the level of competition has significantly increased which has led to intensification in competition in the industry. This corporation is owned by a group of people who comes from all over the world. Among these people are the Muslims and the Arabs. McDonald’s is a neutral corporation which is independent of religious or political interference. McDonald’s is owned by Arab and Muslim business men in Arabian countries (McDonald’s, 2011: par 3). These individuals are responsible for the operations of this corporation in these countries. McDonald’s is the world’s top leading organization in the food ser vice industry (McDonald’s, 2011: par 1). The origin of this corporation can be traced back in 1930s when it started showing good performance in the market. With time, the organization continued with a progress. In its early stages of development, some of the main foods produced were cheeseburgers, hamburgers, shakes, French fries, apple pie and soft drinks (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 3). In 1960s, the company recorded a significant boost in the level of its performance. In 1965, the organization offered its shares in public at a price of $ 25.50 each (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 5). This was one of the major steps in the process of taking off. Soon after the launch of these shares, the prices shot up to $30 per share. Over the past, the company has encountered a high level of competition from its competitors. This has severally threatened the performance of the organization. However, the company has managed to retain its high level of perf ormance. For instance, the company was faced by a major challenge in 1980s during the hamburger wars. This battle was between various companies in the hamburger chains. During this period, McDonald’s intensified its advertisement campaigns. During this period, the market was characterized by aggressive advertisement campaigns and cut of prices. This reduced the level of returns significantly for McDonald’s. However, McDonald’s market share continued to expand during the time (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 7).Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Marketing Project: McDonald’s specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More McDonald’s has a very close examination of the need of its customers. In connection to this, the company planned to diversify its menu in order to suit the changing needs of its customers. As a result of these changes, company introduced chicken McNuggets in 1983 (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 8). By the end of the same year, McDonald’s managed to emerge as the second largest chicken retailer in the world. This marked a tremendous growth soon after introduction. One of the strengths of McDonald’s is the fact that its employees are very efficient in their jobs (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 9). This had a significant contribution in performance of the organization. For instance, it reduced the operational expenses. As a result of increased employees’ efficiency, McDonald’s to lower the prices of its key products (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 11). In 1960s, McDonald’s high level of performance can be attributed to the organization’s skillful marketing and flexibility on response to customer’s demand. With time McDonald’s continued with its expansion where it opened several new restaurants in the region. For instance, the organization was o pening its 1,000th restaurant in 1968 (Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011: par 12). During this period, the chief administrative and president of the company was Fred Turner. The company also has a global presence and is considered a market leader in the global market. This simplifies the marketing process. One of the main weaknesses of the company is that it faces high price competition or price wars with its competitors. This leads to reduction in the profit margins. Another weakness with McDonald’s is that it uses advertisement strategies which targets children. This denies the company a chance to reach many people. Marketing Strategy or Problem Marketing Strategy Overview Marketing Strategy Statement In the contemporary business world, the market is characterized by a very high level of competition. In order for any organization to survive in such a market, there is a need to have an effective marketing strategy. As already noted, the food retail industry in the wor ld has been similarly faced with a very high level of competition. In order for any corporation to survive in such an environment, it must employ the most effective marketing strategy. In this case, the aim of this strategy is to increase the level of sales in hamburger. This type of food product faces a high level of competition in the market. This has threatened its performance in the market. This strategy is aimed at helping in increasing the level of sales of this product.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Objectives The main objective of this marketing plan is to increase the level of the sales of the McDonald’s hamburgers. From the results released towards the end of the year 2010, the sales rose by 4.8 per cent (Sodersmith, 2010: par 1). This increase was significantly attributed to addition of new items in the menu. In other words, very little of this increase can be attributed to sales from the existing products. Therefore, this strategy aims at increasing the level of hamburger sales by 4% by the end of this year. This strategy is also aimed at increasing the company’s market share for hamburgers. Currently, McDonald’s is facing a very high competition from Subway. Subway is increasing its stores across the world rapidly. Therefore, the objective of this strategy will be to help the organization in retaining its performance. Despite of the high level competition, McDonald’s still remains ahead of Subway in terms of revenue with each recording $24.1 bi llion and $15.2 billion respectively in 2010 (Casestudyinc 2011: par 1). Market Share for Top performing restaurants 2002 1997 McDonald’s 7.3% McDonald’s 7.8% Burger King 3.0% Burger King 3.6% Wendy’s 2.4% Taco Bell 2.2% Subway 1.9% Pizza Hut 2.1% Taco Bell 1.9% Wendy’s 2.1% Table 1. Market Share for different restaurants in 1997 and 2002. (Stewart, 2010: 20) The table above indicates that McDonald’s has a significant market share. The company’s market share was 7.8 percent in 1997. Due to increased competition, this level fell to 7.3 per cent in 2002. Strategic Marketing Components In order to achieve these goals, several components of strategic marketing will be integrated. These will facilitate in realization of the above objectives of the marketing strategy. Branding Branding is one of the most important activities which can significantly determine the success of a particular organization. This is because it helps in cr eation of a unique name which differentiates a company’s products from those produced by its competitors. This exercise plays a pivotal role in attraction and retention of customers in a competitive environment as well as winning their loyalty. However, the success of a brand will largely depend on the effectiveness of the branding process. In order for our company to sell the new product successfully, we need to have an effective branding strategy. In the current business world, the level of competition has significantly increased. Similarly, the level of competition in the food retail industry has also increased. Bearing this in mind, there is a need to come up with a branding program in order to win more customers in the market. In this case, McDonald’s company faces a big challenge in the hamburger market which is faced by a very high level of competition. The organization has a well developed reputation for its performance all over the world. As already noted, the company has also managed to conduct a close observation on the need of its customer’s hence managing to retain high level of consumer satisfaction. These achievements will significantly improve the effectiveness of the branding process. Online branding will be of great importance in this case. In order to convince our potential customers about the quality of our company’s hamburgers over our competitors’, we need to use attractive images of the new product which can easily capture the attention of our potential customers. We are also going to consider the traffic such that the message reaches the right people. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the whole exercise will be impotent. It is important to present on the website something that potential customers can see and believe (Randall 2000: 15). This image will be set that it will be moving across the page. This will significantly help in attracting the attention of our potential customers. SMS Interactive This is one of the most recently developed online advertisement method which can significantly help us in creating our brand. In our case, we are targeting families in all the middle and upper class. The SMS interactive method will help us to increase the level of sales of our hamburgers to this group. According to Face Media Digital (2011: par 5), this method assists a business to engage directly with its potential customers through their mobile phones and getting the feedback instantly. This method will be very useful because it is more cost effective than the traditional methods of advertisement. Therefore, we are going to save a substantial sum of money for the organization. In this method, it will be easier to take queries from consumers. In the process, the company will be able to increase the level of sales. The SMS Interactive combines various marketing communications tools which significantly help in development of an organization’s brand in a most efficient way. Through th is method, we shall be able to read our responders mobile numbers which we can use in exchange of information about the product. This will help us in cultivating loyalty from our potential customers. This method will also help us in concentrating on the traffic which we are targeting in the market. Again, this will also help us in conserving financial and time resources by only investing with potential customers. In order for any business to able to sell its new product, it must be able to advertise and promote it (Business Resource Software, not dated: par 3). These exercises will be of great significance in our case. We are going to apply the push strategy. As the level of competition has increased in the market, we are going to use this method to push our new product into the market. In brand development, communication also plays a pivotal role in promoting the effectiveness of the exercise. One of the main methods of communication to be used will be SMS. This method will help us to reach our potential customers in the shortest time possible. Another advantage of this method is that we shall be able to get the feed back from our customers. This close interaction will help us in creating a strong brand for the Premier Portraits. For instance, we shall be able to convince our client on the quality of our new product. Another important method of communication which will be useful in this case is through email messages. This is another cost effective method that will help us in reaching our customers very fast despite of their geographical locations. This will also enable us in reaching our customers wherever they are. Budget This program will involve competition with already established organizations. Playing in the major league is more expensive than playing in the minor league. This implies that we have to make adequate investment in branding in order to compete successfully in the market. This program will involve an external company which will provide SMS Interactive services. It will also involve the internal branding through our website. Image Positioning In order for any product to be successful in a competitive market, it should cultivate a good image from the potential consumers. We intend to build an image of high quality and low priced product. In such combination, we shall be able to win customers from our competitors. The Target Market The main target market will be both new and existing markets that have recorded low level of performance. In this case, we are targeting families since they are potential customers for our hamburgers. Through collection of adequate information, we shall be able to calculate the consumer’s lifetime value. This calculation will be of great significance as it will help us in estimating the dollar value associated with our customers. This will play a pivotal role in making some critical decisions. By concentrating on these market areas, we expect to increase our market share for hamburgers significantly. Sustainable Competitive Advantage (SCA) In order to be able to come up with an effective marketing strategy, it is necessary to have a sustainable competitive advantage. The competitive analysis gives an analysis of the service or product’s position in the customer’s mind. According to the Business Software Resource publication, it is very vital for the company to know its competitors. In order to be able to compete with its competitors, the company should be aware of its competitor’s strengths and weaknesses. It is through this understanding that the company will be able to formulate strategies to overcome their competitors. McDonald’s hamburgers have been strong compared to those provided by their competitors. McDonald’s has managed to retain its competitive advantage through out its products line. One way through which a company can do this is through differentiation. Differentiation makes the company’s products to appear unique from similar products provided by their competitors. By having a close examination of changing consumer needs, McDonald’s has managed to modify its hamburgers accordingly. This differentiates it from the one provided by its competitors. Marketing Tactics Product Issues In the food industry, products have become so homogeneous that it becomes difficult for consumers to differentiate. In order to solve this problem, we are going to differentiate our hamburgers from those provided in the market by our competitors. This will help our consumers in differentiating our product in terms of quality and package. Distribution Distribution is another important component in marketing plan. The company should choose a distribution method which will facilitate efficiency by making its products available to its customers at the right place and in the right time (Time and place utilities). For instance, a company may decide to make direct sales which involves sale offering using a dire ct, in-house sales through the telephone, mail or through the internet (Business Resource Software, not dated: par 8). In this case, the hamburgers will be sold through our restaurants. In case there is a need for external catering, appropriate arrangement will be made in order to deliver in required time and places. However, the company should make adjustments depending on the prevailing conditions to maximize sales. Pricing According to Westwood (2005), pricing is a key factor in marketing strategy (158). Pricing is a major factor which determines the realization of the company’s marketing objectives. Pricing significantly depends on the product portfolio, product’s life cycles and the objectives for sales turnover and the market share. At McDonald’s, pricing of hamburgers will be determined in three main ways. These includes customer based pricing, Competitor based pricing as well as the cost based pricing. Since the market for hamburger is concentrated with a large number of competitors, it will be important to consider first the prices they are offering in the market. For instance, in case we set a price that is too high, then we will most probably lose our customers to our competitors. On the other hand, setting too low prices may reduce the profit margins. Therefore, a clear understanding of the prices our close competitors are offering in the market will be of great significance in setting our prices. Currently, the share of the market of hamburger is relatively low. Therefore, we shall use a penetrating price in order to expand our market share and then increase our profitability level in the long run. However, the cost of production will be of great significance in setting this price. The price level and the quantity demanded are closely related. When the prices are very high, then the level of quantity demanded tends to be lower. On the other hand, when the prices are very low, more people tend to buy the product or service. How ever, the price at which the company sells its product or service and the quantity sold at these prices are the major determinants of the profits generated. The point above raises a very critical issue in marketing planning. If a company increases the prices of its products, it is likely going to lose its customer. On the other hand, if it lowers the prices, then this is likely going to cut down its profits. It is therefore very necessary for any company to come up with appropriate pricing procedures which are likely to maximize profits. While setting down the price levels, a company must determine cost of producing the items. For instance, a company cannot set its prices below the cost of production. However, there is a high risk of creating price wars when one company sets its process below what its competitors are offering in the same market. As already noted, one of the main problem of unhealthy competition is the pricing wars. When many players enters into the market while the number of consumers remains constant; this leads to a high level of competition as each player try to win more customers in the market (Bungert, 2003: 2). The only slogan in this case becomes the price. In this case, each company will be aiming at under pricing its competitors. Consequently, this leads to fall in prices up to unsustainable levels. In case such a case takes place, it threatens the performance of McDonald’s company. As a result of fall in prices, the company’s total returns will automatically fall. Meanwhile, the company will be forced to increase its expenses on promotion in order to retain or win more customers in increasingly competitive market. Advertising Promotions In order for any company to sell its offer effectively, it should be able to advertise and promote it (Business Resource Software, not dated; par 9). In this case we are going to use the push strategy. In this form of promotion, the company uses the promotion methods which tend to push its product or service into the market place. In order to achieve maximum results, we are going to use two main methods in our advertisement and promotions. Advertising Advertising plays a pivotal role in determining the success of an organization especially in the global market which is characterized by consumers with a diverse background and high level of competition. In advertising, we will apply several types of media to pass information to the Company’s potential customers. This method of promotion can have huge impact especially when the company is extending its services in new market network. We shall apply variety of media including printed, broadcasting and display media. Television is one of the frequently used media by many companies. One of the main advantages of using television is because it will help the company to reach a greater number of its target audience. This is more so important bearing in mind the fact that the company is involved in the global market where it may be very expensive to use other methods of advertisement. Therefore, this media lowers the promotion cost per head. Through this method of advertisement, the McDonald’s will manage to build its brand in the markets. Over the past, this method has yielded good returns through increased level of sales. Another method of advertisement which is going to be applicable to McDonald’s is the display media. This method has also significantly contributed to increasing the level of sales in various organizations. Through the display media, the company is going to use eye attracting pictures which easily attracts the attention of the targeted audience in the market. Consequently, the organization will manage to pass information more easily to the group. One major advantage of this medium of advertisement is that it is more cost effective. It does not require large sums of money like in the case of television. Advertisement as a method of promotion is associated with a number of advantages. To start with, advertisement is effective in reaching a wide range of audience (Trehan and Trehan, 2009: 35).This is because when advertisement is conducted through a media which covers a large number of people, it will reach them more easily. The method will help in reaching a greater number of people compared to other methods like the sales promotion. Another advantage of this method is that it is most effective in creating awareness. When the audience views a certain advert on television regularly, this increases their awareness of the presence of the product in the market. This builds their curiosity to try the new product. In this case, this method will help the company in winning new clients in new markets. This significantly helps the company to increase the level of hamburger sales. Consequently, this will lead to a gradual increase in the market share for McDonald’s hamburgers. Again, advertising helps in building customer trust through repetiti on of the main brand and product. Despite of these achievements of advertising as a method of promotion, it suffers some limitations. For instance, this method is impersonal and therefore it becomes impossible to answer the customer’s questions. However, when a product is introduced in a new market, customers usually have some questions about the product. In this case, some potential clients may be wishing to ask some questions from McDonald’s about its hamburgers. Thus, there is a need to have close interaction with potential clients in order to win them. The company will also not be in a position to understand the needs of their potential clients. For instance, it becomes difficult to pick views from the potential customers through this method of promotion. However, the level of performance is improved by integrating it with sales promotion Sales promotion One way through which McDonald’s can invite a larger figure of customers is through sales promotion. Sale s promotion can significantly help an organization in expanding the number of its customers or clients hence boosting the level of sales. In addition, sales promotion has been of great importance in creating consumer awareness. Through promotion, the company will manage to bring its potential customers to awareness of the product in the market. This method has been of great importance especially in increasing the level of market share. In some regions, most of the people may not be aware of the company’s product. In this case, it becomes very difficult to sell the product in such market. However, the company can overcome this barrier through sales promotion. This attracts customers hence increasing the level of sales. One advantage of using sales promotion is that it can stimulate quick increases in sales by targeting promotional incentives on particular products. These can significantly help in improving the performance of the organization in the short run. This method has h elped several companies in increasing the sales in their market networks (Trehan and Trehan, 2009: 57). This method has been of great importance when the company is venturing into a new market. As already noted, McDonald’s has been spreading at a very high rate. For instance, the company has been extending its products in other parts of the world in a very high rate. In such new networks, most of the people may not be aware of the company’s products. In this case, it becomes very difficult to sell a product in such a market. However, the company can manage to bring awareness to the potential customers through sales promotion. This attracts customers hence increasing the level of sales. In this case, McDonald’s will manage to expand its market despite the high level of competition. Therefore, sales promotion will significantly help in increasing the market share for the McDonald’s hamburgers. Through sales promotion, we shall be able to bring awareness abo ut our hamburgers to our potential customers. In the process, we shall be able to win them to buy our hamburgers. One advantage of using sales promotion is that it can stimulate quick increases in sales by targeting promotional incentives on particular products. These can significantly help in improving the performance of the organization in the short run. McDonald’s versus Subway Table 2. McDonald’s versus Subway. (Case study Inc. 2011) The table above gives a clear understanding of the nature of competition which MacDonald’s faces. It also helps us to understand the historical aspects in the food retail market. Electronic Commerce As defined by Bidgoli (2004), E-marketing is all about sale and purchase of goods or services through digital and electronic means (50). As argued by Aoudia (2009: par 3), internet has become the centre for conversations. Since marketing is about conversations, then internet becomes a favorable place for passing information to the c ustomers. In electronic commerce, most of business practices are conducted through computer networks. In the contemporary world, computer networks have become intensively integrated into business activities. More people can now access computer networks and therefore has become an important component in business activities. In order to reduce our operational costs, we are planning to conduct most of our transactions over the web. For instance, the corporation incurs a lot of costs through manual operations. We are intending to reduce paper work by allowing consumers to make orders online. This will also facilitate the service process. In order to maximize the level of consumer satisfaction, it is necessary to have enough information about consumers. In order to maximize the level of consumer satisfaction, we are going to use electronic means in gathering information from consumers. By so doing, we shall be able to understand our customer’s tastes and preferences. E-marketing w ill be of great significance to McDonald’s in reaching their customers. As Dart (2002) comments, internet, SMS and WAP has significantly contributed to the success of the field of marketing (par 3). The marketers are now able to reach more customers, faster, and even more effectively than before. E- Marketing channels are more direct and it is very easy to make changes depending on the prevailing consumer tastes and preferences unlike the traditional methods where it is very difficult to make such changes. Through e-marketing, we shall be able to overcome the geographical barriers. We shall be able to reach customers all over our market network without necessarily having to travel to these places. Consequently, we shall be able to reduce operational costs incurred through traveling. As a result, we will be able to under price our competitors effectively. In other words, our hamburgers will be relatively cheaper compared to those of our competitors. This will help in developin g our competitive advantage. Implementation Resources Required In order for this plan to be effective, it will be necessary for the corporation to dedicate the required financial and human resources necessary in execution of this plan. As already noted, this plan will require clear information about the customers. Although necessary information will be gathered electronically, there will be a need to have frequent field surveys in order to collect adequate information from consumers. This will require substantial funds in order to conduct such research. In order to execute this plan effectively, there is also a need to train our employees. We shall therefore need some funds to cater for employees’ training. We also require some funds to give our employees some incentives to participate in the plan. Time Line July 2011: Budget preparation August 2011: Market and competition review September 2011: Development of the product’s image October 2011: Sales promotion and creat ing awareness November 2011: Advertisement Epilogue In conclusion, this discussion has clearly shown that McDonald’s has a potential room for improving its market share in the hamburger market. From this discussion, it is clear that an effective marketing plan can significantly improve the performance of any organization. The existing marketing plan has helped the organization in selling its products to its potential customers. However, there is still room for improvement because some of its products are declining in terms of the market share. There is a great need for the company to invest more in promoting its products in order to retain its high level of performance in an increasingly competitive market. Without promotion, very few people will be aware of a particular product which is provided by an organization in the market. In other words, promotion will help the company in informing its potential customers on the presence of its product in the market. Through this stud y, it has been revealed that most of the advertisement tools applied by the organization only mostly reaches only the children. This is so threatening bearing in mind the existing level of competition. The proposed plan will therefore be of great significance in improving the company’s level of sales.
